ANTELOPE ANIMORPH
[NOTES ON DOMESTIC FURNITURE]
As life becomes an increasingly digital world and the work / life domains blur, we have been pushed further towards an exaggerated domesticity. An opportunity arises for furniture to push back and exist in a semi wild state to balance our lives. By embodying animalistic forms, furniture fills an expanding void between human and nature, calming and providing companionship within the home, operating within the domain of dogs, cats and other domesticated animals.
Antelope Animorph, stands firmly and elegantly in the home supported by legs sprawled out, movement imminent yet remaining static. The body pushes, pulls, sweeps, creases, dents, and flattens, dancing with our emotive responses and the liminal space in the room. This provides subtle moments of utility while always offering companionship. The color comforts while abstracting the form from wild animals, balancing domains and melding others together.
